Notes regarding APLINK version 6.00-6.04
----------------------------------------
1. There are several important new features in 6.00 including support for
upper and lower case and the full ascii printing character set on AMTOR, and
an import/export facility. Be sure to read the APLINK.DOC file before
installing the new version.
2. The code is significantly larger than in previous versions. This is
partly due to the additional features and partly due to a new compiler that I
am using that promises to generate much faster code (we will see). As an aid
to configuring Desqview you should put HEAP=1 in your APLINK.CNF file when
initially setting up the system. This will cause the amount of free space
available in the Desqview window to be displayed. It should be about 100K in
order to allow enough room for the Norton editor to be called by APLINK.
3. The UPDATE proceedure has been changed. It does not restart the program
as before but restores the program to initial values and continues. At
update time MSDIR.APS is saved as MSDIR.OLD as a aid to recovery should the
directory file become damaged.
If UPDATE is run on the first day of the month EVENTLOG.APS is renamed
EVENTLOG.OLD and a new EVENTLOG.APS is started.
4. Version 6.02 now includes full support for the PCI-3000 (when used with
version 1.7C ROM or later).
5. Bugs reported in versions 6.00 and 6.01 have been fixed.
6. The ascii documentation files now have a file extenion of
.ASC rather than the old .DOC. This is because the author has
switched to the Microsoft Word word processor which uses .DOC for
its own files. The file ending in .DOC is a Microsoft Word
file.
7. Version 6.03 corrects bugs reported in 6.02 and changes the ASCII and
EXPERT commands from toggles to positive commands. The commands are now:
EXPERT ON
EXPERT OFF
ASCII ON
ASCII OFF
8. Version 6.04 corrects a bug in the list commands.
